Spotlight on Scandinavia

The Scandinavian user groups have heated up their summer months with plenty of great events in beautiful settings. Find out what has been happening in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Swedish Seminar in Strömstad

The first event of the summer was a seminar hosted by ALESUG Sweden in the scenic city of Strömstad, June 2-4. Seminar participants gathered at the Quality Spa and Resort, a hotel that has used the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise solution for years. The IT Manager of the hotel welcomed the attendees and described the OmniPCX Enterprise solution, focusing on the upgrades and new releases the hotel implemented to support its growth and expansion.

Following this hospitable introduction, Alcatel-Lucent offered a line-up of presentations that addressed mobile clients, SMS services, the Alcatel-Lucent IT data portfolio with mobility and security, and the Business Partners presented exiting case studies. Attendees also participated in workshops and useful knowledge-exchange with both Business Partners and Alcatel-Lucent representatives. They enjoyed plentiful opportunities for socializing and networking, including:  a boat trip, nature walks and a shellfish buffet at a Kostaöerna restaurant, with the stunning Swedish archipelago as a backdrop.

Getting Nautical in Norway

ALESUG Norway had a sea-bound seminar from June 10-12: the first part of the seminar took place onboard a boat from Oslo to Copenhagen. Upon arrival at Copenhagen on June 11, participants enjoyed sailing the city's canals and continued the event in the DGI-byen conference center.

The seminar topics centered on Unified Communications tools, ‘good' and ‘bad' telephone culture, mobile integration and eco-sustainable IT.

Participants also had the chance to share knowledge in workshops that brought together both Business Partners and Application Partners. The workshops enabled Alcatel-Lucent customers to share their experiences with one another and with their suppliers. They came away with useful input and a sense that they contributed to the product improvement process.

The seminar was capped off with an impressive dinner served in Tivoli, a famous 100-year-old amusement park. Attendees didn't stop at dining; many tried out a few activities in the park too!

Discussing Alcatel-Lucent in Denmark

Last but not least, ALESUG Denmark held a meeting on the afternoon of August 25, hosted by member company Force Technology. Force Technology recently implemented the Remote Extension and softphone, allowing them to save money, increase flexibility, standardize their user interface and simplify with one number/one device.

Many companies were present. The meeting focused on Microsoft OCS integration and the Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch 8600 My Instant Communicator, and featured a lively discussion on Unified Communications. In addition to these topics, the board invited a Business Partner to present their company or cover a special topic, as it does at each gathering of the Danish user group.

These ALESUG events in Scandinavia combined informative programming and experience exchange with opportunities to network and socialize with fellow Alcatel-Lucent users, suppliers and experts.
